Spain

This research group (UCM Reference No.: 910627) has been validated by the UCM as a group certified under the ISO 9001 Standard.
The research activities are developed in the field of surface engineering for high temperature: studies of corrosion and protective coatings for high temperature. Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) is one of the investigation lines, it consists in depositing materials on solid substrates from gaseous precursors. Optimum precursors and coating conditions, in term both surface quality and minimization of energy consumption, will be sought based on the vast experience of partner UCM on this field, WP4, WP5 & WP6.

ATOMISING SYSTEMS LIMITED

United Kingdom

Atomising Systems Limited is a supplier of atomised metal powders and plant equipment worldwide. We have a range of technologies developed in house, including both gas and water atomising. Our steel and nickel base powders go into a wide variety of markets including Additive Manufacturing, Metal Injection Moulding, Filters, Coatings and Thermal Spray. With a strong R&D team, we produce many custom chemistries and one off materials. During the Bio.3dGreen project we will be producing very low oxygen batches of powder that will then go to another partner to be PVD coated. While the amount to be atomised is small, our work involves designing new processing equipment to allow oxygen free processing and packing of material after atomisation.

PANEPISTIMIO PATRON

Greece

The University of Patras (UPAT), Greece’s third-largest university. In the Bio.3DGREEN project is a key partner, contributing its expertise in materials and structures through its Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics and Material Science departments.
The Applied Mechanics Laboratory (AML) at the University of Patras’s Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics was established in 1980.AML’s expertise is in composite materials design and characterization. In the Bio.3DGREEN project, under supervision of Prof. Vassilis Kostopoulos, AML plays a central role in demonstrating the novel bio-intelligent architecture GF parts for vibration control in aerospace systems and soft stowed packaging, conducting dynamic response and compliance testing.
The Department of Materials Science will primarily focus on the drying and optimization of graphene foam (GF) structures. A range of techniques will be employed, including supercritical CO₂ drying, freeze-drying, vacuum oven drying, and nitrogen-flow drying. Under the supervision of Prof. Ioannis Koutselas and Assist. Prof. Konstantinos Dimos, and supported by a team of graduate students, the group aims to develop a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable drying protocol. The overarching goal is the fabrication of GF materials with tailored properties—specifically, ultra-low density, high porosity, and enhanced structural integrity. In parallel, the team will carry out comprehensive, state-of-the-art characterization to investigate the physicochemical properties of the resulting materials, ensuring their suitability for advanced technological applications.

MEAB CHEMIE TECHNIK GMBH

Cyprus

MEAB Chemie Technik GmbH is a german company specialized in Hydrometallurgy and especially solvent extraction. In the Bio.3DGREEN project after the graphene is grown on the metal scaffolding it is our Job to do the etching of this scaffolding to only leave behind the graphene structure. We will try different solutions and parameters to find the best conditions for this step. To save the environment the second task is to recover the removed metal to be reused and regenerate the etching solution to keep the amount of used chemicals as low as possible.

DIN DEUTSCHES INSTITUT FUER NORMUNG EV

Germany

DIN, the German National Standardization Body and member of CEN and ISO, will provide knowledge about existing standards and standardization activities as well as know-how about the standardization process. DIN has participated in numerous EU projects and will ensure, that the Bio.3DGREEN findings will be presented to relevant standardization committees at European or international level or are incorporated into its own standardization deliverables such as CEN Workshop Agreements. Bio.3DGREEN will thus take into consideration existing relevant standards to align the developments with them early on and participate in ongoing or new standardization activities supported or led by DIN.
To raise awareness of the project’s standardization activities, DIN will provide information on standards and standardization, e.g. via presentations at conferences and workshops, contributions to journals and scientific publications.
